Laundry On Sundaes

Every beginning is only a sequel, after all, and the book of events is always open halfway through.

Part 1

For Saturday night, the day after Valentine’s Day, we had dinner reservations at The Spinnaker in Sausalito.

The restaurant sits over the water with views of – what’s that in the distance?

The San Francisco skyline! We were a little early for our reservation, so we sat in the lounge area with some drinks and watched the city transform from day to night while we waited for our table.

Once we got seated, we shared a bruschetta made with hot focaccia bread with garlic, olive oil, fresh tomato, pesto, and parmesan cheese.

It was very different from a regular bruschetta but it was so divine. I can still taste its warm soft cheesiness now.

It was dungeness crab season and they had a special with half a crab and tons of other seafood in this tomato broth and I knew I had to get it.

It was so good! So deliciously satisfying. The non-seafood offering at the restaurant was a little thin but Yufei managed to get a decent steak.

After dinner, we drove back home to SF. The next day, we went to the East Bay to visit my parents for lunch and then headed to the Oakland Zoo!

We bought these Travelzoo vouchers a long time ago and it was the last weekend before they expired. The zoo was pretty small so it didn’t take long to walk through and see everything, but it was so warm and sunny outside so it was still a nice day for the zoo. Too bad there were such huge crowds of families with young children everywhere.

The most entertaining was definitely this family of baboons. The babies were so rambunctious!

I had so much fun this weekend, definitely a well-deserved break from school. Thanks Yufei for spending this weekend with me celebrating our 6th Valentine’s Day together!
