Laundry On Sundaes

Every beginning is only a sequel, after all, and the book of events is always open halfway through.

Yufei’s been to Foreign Cinema a few times with his friends and kept raving about how great it is and I’ve been asking him to take me forever. We finally went a few weeks ago for dinner. It definitely lived up to my expectations!

We sat in the courtyard area where they project the movie. They were playing Moonrise Kingdom when we were there! I also love the string lights.

We started off with a couple of cocktails and the beef carpaccio with salsa verde, fried capers, shoestrings frites, and Manchego.

The carpaccio was really flavorful, and the frites, which were more like chips, were the perfect companion to it.

Yufei got the fried chicken with sesame seeds, chick pea hummus, raisins, and brussel sprouts for his main course.

I had a few bites and it was delicious. I decided on the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin with cranberry beans, almonds, and egg.

This was the perfect example of a dish with very simple, fresh ingredients with flavors that work so well together. It was so good.

Even though we were pretty full, Yufei insisted on dessert. So we both got chocolate desserts: Yufei had the chocolate torte with a scoop of ice cream and I got the chocolate pot de crème with chantilly cream and 2 mini macarons.

Both desserts were very rich and decadent and delicious! And as if that wasn’t enough chocolate for us, our check came with complimentary truffles too. What a wonderful dinner!
